What is Pilates and How can it Help You? Did you know that the Pilates system of exercise, developed in the 1920s by Joseph H. Pilates, focuses on improving flexibility and strength for the total body without building bulk? Or that some of the first people to use the Pilates Method were dancers Martha Graham and George Balanchine?
Pilates is a series of controlled movements that are performed on specifically designed exercise apparatus or on mats, facilitated by specially trained teachers. Benefits of the Pilates method include promoting physical balance and harmony. And, it’s so gentle that it’s appropriate for people of all ages and fitness levels, including during pregnancy.

What to offer? And why is that question important?
Its how I orient myself, how I plan my day’s.
When I’m freely able to ask that question I know that my spirit is full and that is my natural, god given state.
I had a wonderful massage from Amber on wednesday. Her intuitive touch and her voice brought to my awareness places and needs I had not known about.
My sore low back and shoulder connected. My masculine right side got to hear “it’s safe”.
So grateful.
It gets better though! On Saturday, Nancy and I hosted a three hour long Fundamentals of Pilates workshop.
We had nine people in our little studio! And it was great! We laughed and learned and Nancy and I wove our presentation together like old pros.
Again, so grateful for those hearts that come walking in our doors.
